The actually process of applying merely for a work permit is a relatively easy process and Immigration Consult is here to help you every step of the way.

The first step to applying for a work permit is to fill in an online application form that is available right here from Immigration Consult. Once you have completed this online application if you hit the send button the application will be submitted straight to us here at Immigration Consult.

When you have submitted your application, our team of immigration lawyers and experts will read through your application and resolve any issues that we find with it. We will contact you and talk you through these issues so that you are kept informed throughout the process.

Once all of the issues have been resolved then we shall email the completed application back to you; this application is known as a WP1 application. When you receive it you should print it off and sign it before mailing it back to us complete with the following documentation:

  • Copies of all academic/professional qualifications of the candidate
  • Original employer's references covering, ideally, the last 5 years of the candidate's employment
  • Copies of any advertisements used to try to find an EU candidate
  • Signed client contract (if applicable)

Once we have received the signed WP1 form and all of the above we will send your application off to the Home Office Border and Immigration Agency in order for it to be approved; you should allow a time frame of anything up to four weeks for your application to be approved.

Once the Home Office Border and Immigration Agency have finished will your application and it has been approved your work permit will be sent to us here at Immigration Consult where we will then send the work permit back to you.

The process really couldn’t be simpler; however in certain circumstances you will need to make additional applications. If your potential employee is currently in the UK on a work permit for a different employer you will need to apply for a work permit in the way stated above but you will also need to apply for what is known as Further Leave to Remain at the same time as you apply for the work permit

If your potential employee is currently in the UK on a work permit for you but needs an extension to do a similar job the extension application can be made by Immigration Consult and again you will need to apply for a Further Leave to Remain.

If your potential employee is currently outside of the UK but wants a job in the UK you need to apply for a work permit and when the work permit is approved you will need to make a visa application. This visa application will be made at the British Embassy where your potential employee is a current resident. This visa is endorsed by the employee’s passport.

If you would like to know further information about the process of applying for a work permit then contact Immigration Consult today and speak to one of our expert lawyers or advisors.
