Naturalising as a British citizen

If you are over 18 and have been living in the Uk for the last five years, or for three years if married or in a civil partner, you may be eligible for naturalisation as a British Citizen. Application for naturalisation are made using the form AN

There are seven requirements needed before you can apply

That you are 18 or over
Are of sound mind
You intend to continue to live in the United Kingdom
You are able to communicate in English to an acceptable level
You have sufficient knowledge of the life in the UK
Are of good character
That you meet the residential requirements.

The residential requirement are:

That you have been resident in the UK for five years before the date of your application
Have been present in the UK for five years before the date of your application
Have not spent more than 450 days outside of the UK during the five year period
Have not spent more than 90 days outside of the Uk in the last 12 months
Not been in breach of the immigration rules at any stage during the five year period
