Commonwealth Countries for a UK Ancestry Visa

Applying for an Irish ancestry visa is almost the same process as applying for a UK ancestry visa. As a foreign national you are able to apply for an Irish ancestry visa if you are a commonwealth citizen (please see the commonwealth country list) who has grandparents who were born in Ireland before 1922.

As with a UK ancestry visa you will be able to apply for a variety of different jobs with an Irish visa as the job market will be opened up to you.

In order to complete your application you will have to have access to your full birth certificate and your parents/grandparents full birth certificates. Also if you are married you will have to have your marriage certificate as well as the marriage certificates of your parents/grandparents. The reason that you need documentation such as these is so that you are able to prove your relationship with your Irish born relatives. This can be a lengthy process as finding these documents may take a while, which is why you need to ensure that you give yourself enough time to find them.

If you are eligible for an Irish ancestry visa and you are granted it you are able to stay within Ireland for a maximum of five years. Once these five years are over it should be noted that as a commonwealth citizen who has Irish grandparents may apply for Irish citizenship. This would mean that you would qualify immediately for a passport, which would allow you to work anywhere in the EEA. There is one disadvantage to this application, which is that it would take in excess of one year to process.

If you would like any additional information regarding applying for an Irish ancestry visa then contact Immigration consult today and we will help you in anyway that we can with your application process.
