UK Working Holidaymakers Visa Requirements and Conditions

If you are hoping to apply for a UK Working Holidaymakers Visa there are certain requirements and conditions that you will have to meet in order to be granted the visa.

There are certain things that you can do whilst on this visa and certain things that you can’t. As previously mentioned you are only eligible to work for 12 months of the two years that you will spend within the UK on a Working Holidaymakers Visa. You are also only permitted to take up certain work whilst you are in the UK on a Working Holidaymakers visa. Below is a list of what you can do whilst on a Working Holidaymakers Visa:

  • You can pursue your career as long as it is just part of your holiday
  • If you are married both you and your partner are able to apply for separate Working Holidaymakers visas
  • It is essential that you have enough money to support yourself whilst you are not working
  • You must also have sufficient money to ensure that you can buy a return ticket home once your two year period is over

Below is a list of what you can’t do while you are on a Working Holidaymakers Visa:

  • You cannot extend your stay longer than the two year set period
  • You must ensure that you want to take up employment in the place that you chose to visit in the UK
  • You are not permitted to work as a professional sports person
  • You cannot do business in the UK unless it is a small business. If the business involves commitment such as investing in property or hiring staff you are not permitted to enter the UK under a Working Holiday Makers Visa.

You must apply for this visa via your local embassy/consulate. If your visa is granted you will receive an endorsement in your passport, which grants you leave to enter the UK; this is known as a clearance certificate.

Once you have been granted your visa it is unlikely that you will be refused entry. The only real reasons that you will be refused entry after being granted a visa is if you made false statements or you failed to enclose important documents, one other reason is if your circumstances have changed since your application. It is also a good idea to keep a copy of your visa application in your hand luggage when you arrive in the UK in case you are approached my immigration officials.
