A working holidaymaker visa is an arrangement where a person who is aged between 17 and 30 can come to the UK for an extended holiday. This visa allows you to enter the UK for a maximum of two years. The working holidaymaker visa has been around for a long period of time and on the 8th February 2005 the UK government changed the rules that surrounded the visa, which brought about a lot more restrictions surrounding what you were able to do whilst in the UK on this visa. Before the changes were brought about you were able to undertake any type of work you wanted and you were allowed to work for the entire two years that your visa lasted; however the new restrictions mean that you can only work for 12 months out of the two years. During these 12 months you are restricted to what work you can carry out; to find out more about what these restrictions are visit our UK Working Holidaymakers Visa Requirements and Conditions page. It should be noted that you are only eligible to apply for this visa if you are a Commonwealth Citizen or British Dependent Territories Citizen or British Overseas Citizen. Also this visa is set to its two year period; you are unable to apply for an extension if you come to the UK as a Working Holidaymaker.
