The income section of the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme can be confusing when it comes to what points you will gain for the amount of money that you have been earning in your current or previous job before you decide to move to the UK. The amount that you earn doesn’t just depend on the job that you are doing, it depends on the country that you live in. Someone in a certain country could earn a lot more or less than a person doing exactly the same job as someone else in another country. So to make the points system fair the amount of points you will gain for your income depends on your country.

Countries from around the world have been split into categories. So find your country below and match it to the amount of points you will be gaining for the amount of money you have been earning.

Category A

£16,000 per annum – 5 points
£18,000 per annum – 10 points
£20,000 per annum – 15 points
£23,000 per annum – 20 points
£26,500 per annum – 25 points
£29,000 per annum – 30 points
£32,000 per annum – 35 points
£35,000 per annum – 40 points
£40,000 per annum – 45 points
