As a foreign national you may be able to come to the UK on an Au Pair UK visa. This type of visa is available for people who live in the following countries:

• Andorra
• Bosnia-Herzegovina
• Bulgaria
• Croatia
• Faroe Islands
• Greenland
• Macedonia
• Monaco
• Romania
• San Marino
• Turkey

An Au Pair visa allows people between the ages of 17 and 27 who are unmarried and have no dependants to come to the UK for a maximum of two years. An Au Pair will come to the UK to live with an English family. The main job of an Au Pair is to assist the English speaking family with housework and to look after any children that the family have.

If you are a successful applicant of an Au Pair visa then you are eligible to come to the UK under certain restrictions. You must attend an educational institute to further learn English. Whilst you are staying within the UK you will receive pocket money and you will have your lodgings.

Applications to enter the UK on an Au Pair visa must be made from outside of the UK and in certain cases you may require clearance from your countries British Embassy or consulate.

You are only permitted to stay in the UK for the two years of the visa, which you are not permitted to extend.
